Brett Leigh Dicks

Brett Leigh Dicks is an Australian photographer who shares his time between the United States and Australia. His photographic endeavours have led him to explore the world's natural and urban landscapes with the resulting imagery spanning Australia, America and Europe. In employing the tradition of fine black and white photography, Brett primarily investigates the landscape and the fragile ties that it shares with human history.

Brett began life as a professional photographer in the Australian music industry where his services were employed by recording artists, management, labels, and promoters. For twelve years he photographed a who's who of internaional and local music including David Bowie, REM, Michael Hutchence, The Go-Betweens, The Church, Icehouse, The Triffids, and Died Pretty.

In leaving music photography, he retrained as a scientific photographer at The University of Sydney. He became educated in the highly specialized field of micro-imaging and the use of both electron and light microscopes along their associated imaging equipment. In this work Brett documented a magical world - bringing to the fore that, which for most of us, has remained a mystery. His images have been reproduced in a plethora of scientific journals, publications, and books.
