William Loveless
William Loveless is a former Los Angeles artist and art educator, now maintaining a full-time studio in the Mojave desert. His current show at True World Gallery features his unique Glue Painting process, which has been in development for 15 years. It involves an original wet-on-wet technique that yields an intricate patterned surface of milky translucence. Microcosmic, macrocosmic, biological, and fractal references are invoked and implied.
Los Angeles Times critic Cathy Curtis says of the Glue Paintings that they "invoke aspects of gravity and chance, tacitly proposing a link between cosmic and artistic creation."
"My primary objective as an artist," says Loveless, "is to probe the intersection where the creative act meets the mystery of creation itself. Through experimentation with materials and their various autonomous interactions, I seek an organic empathy with the complex patterns and processes of the physical world."
