My first memory is
of color. Red, yellow, and blue later became known as the buttons on a ceramic
clown cookie jar. While growing up in southern California, I was exposed to
vibrant colorful Latino Art, sixties psychedelia, and pop culture imagery.
When attending Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles, CA, where I received my
MFA, color dictated my painting thesis. The alchemy of color
continues to direct my work. Light and hue become a metaphorical current to
express emotion and content. |
